Our sweet Preston...

We survived the first 2 weeks!

Our sweet Preston is now 2 weeks old. Both sets of grandparents spent a few days each up here helping us adjust to life with two kids.. We are so thankful that they were able to come. They were great entertainment for Parker and I think that it made the adjustment period for him MUCH easier.

So far, Preston has been an amazing baby. He only cries if he's hungry or if he has gas. The first night home from the hospital was rough because he was up and down all night but after that he was done so well! The first week he was only waking up one time during the night! I would feel him around 11 and then put him down. He would sleep until 3. I would nurse and change him and put him back down and he would sleep until 7 or 7:30... How great is that?? Now, the past few nights he has woken up 2 times.. but still.. You won't find me complaining...

I am nursing him for now. Some days I am ready to quit but it's getting better. He's a great eater thankfully, but I just don't really enjoy the sore boobs... (sorry boy readers!) :)

Preston weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces at birth. He lost down to 7.1 the morning we left the hospital. We left to come home on a Sunday afternoon and we went in to the doctor Tuesday morning for a weight check. He was already back up to 7 pounds and 11 ounces! He gained past his birth weight! The doctor was so impressed she said that she didn't need to see him until is 1 month check up.

Parker is really enjoying having a big brother. He likes to talk to him and he loves to sing him Twinkle Twinkly Little Star. It's precious to my ears! However, he gets very frustrated when Preston cries and it keeps him from hearing his cartoons...

Preston loves to be swaddled. (what baby doesn't?) Chad is the MASTER swaddler. He looks so cute wrapped up like a little baby burrito.

Chad went back to work the day after we brought Preston home from the hospital. He opted to take off 5 Friday's instead of just taking one whole week. It's working out great and it helps to break up the week. We took both boys downtown yesterday for the St. patrick's day parade. The Friday before Chad took Parker to MOnkey N Around to play. We LOVE having daddy home with us.

Here are a few pictures....

Bath time! Preston doesn't love a bath as much as Parker did at this age.

On our way to the doctor for a weight check.

Daddy giving Preston his first bottle...

My sweet boys!!

And of course, our Parker! We went to the park today and played outside. The weather here has been gorgeous! I can't believe how lucky we have been with our first "northern" winter!

Parker and Preston

Parker... He had a "tan" from being under the lights for a few days.

Preston at the hospital.

I think they look very similar except Parker looked "chunkier" even though Preston weighed more at birth. Sweet Parker had that big ole head... :) Preston's is smaller.
Both precious miracles!!

Meet our Preston Allen Greenhaw

We welcomed our precious baby boy, Preston Allen Greenhaw, into the world Friday, March 2nd at 3:29 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.

We are so grateful to have experienced a wonderful (and relatively easy) birth. My body didn't handle Parker's delivery very well so I was really nervous that some of the same issues would arise again. Thankfully, the Lord heard my cried and answered with a simple, beautiful delivery (that I am able to remember this time.)

We had to be at the hospital at 5 a.m. and they were able to start my pitocin pretty quickly. I was 2 cm when I arrived that morning and my body responded well to the meds. I went from 7 cm to 10 very quickly and I can say that was the most painful part of the delivery. I had an epidural but I was still in a lot of pain during this part. (Sure am glad that is over :) They let me labor down, which basically means to just let your body do alot of the work before you start pushing.

I was finally able to start pushing at 3. I was so nervous because I pushed for over 2 hours with Parker and it was very difficult. This little guy decided to be easy on me and I only pushed for about 20-25 minutes.

He is such a sweet baby of course I know things can change.. He is only 6 days old! He rarely cries and he's sleeping for 3 hour chunks in the night! Nursing has been easy with him because he is such a good eater.

He weighed 7 lbs 7 oz at birth. He lost down to 7 pounds 1 oz on Sunday when we left the hospital. We went for a weight check on Tuesday and he had already gained back above his birth weight to 7 pounds 11 ounces. The doctor was so impressed!

The morning of the induction... The final weight gain... 38 pounds...

Welcome Preston!!
