Bath Tub problems

Moms...I need help...

How do you bathe your kids? I know that is a random question but we are having trouble. We have still be using the whale bath tub and the blow up duck bathtub from when Parker was a baby and that is just too small.

Our only bath tub in the house is the one in the master bathroom and it's a deep whirlpool tub so it's so hard to lean down and bath him. He also, will NOT sit down. He is constantly trying to pull up and stand while in the tub. I am worried that he is going to fall down.

I have seen those seats that suction to the bottom of the tub and that would prevent him from standing but I haven't seen them anywhere.

Help!

Can you just bathe him with you?
I tried to find one of those tub seats, too b/c harper outgrew her baby tub but still couldn't sit up on her own. I couldn't find one anywhere!

When Lillie Kate was little she hated getting into the big tub, too. I got in there with her the first few times until she got used to it. I've tried looking for those bath tub seats, too, and I can't find them anywhere either. Hope that helps!

Thanks guys! I have taken a bath with him but I bathe him before I go run and I just usually don't want to get in the bath BEFORE the run! I'll keep looking for one of those seats.

What about the kitchen sink? Or take a shower with him. If you do the sink, just let him stand, do the best you can...use the sprayer and get out. He doesn't have to stay in there forever. Believe me I have learned to do a few things faster and while standing up...in order to get them done. Good luck.

We've done the kitchen sink and it works good with the nozzle, but another good way is for Chad to take a shower with him. It's good for them to get their eyes and head wet early; that way they don't freak out later. Max takes showers easy now, and it's so much faster than a bath.
Or you could just let the cat lick him clean...

Gross Krista! Julie-please don't let the cat lick him clean! AAAHHH!! HA!

I agree with Krista and "Allie Play" with the taking the shower thing. I've been showing Ava with me for a long time and she LOVES it. Because of that, she's adjusted to the water in her face MUCH better than Bonnie ever did.

Also, I was thinking maybe you could put Parker in a plastic clothes basket in the tub. It wouldn't fill with water but would 'contain' him. Ava loves for me to push her around in a clothes basket. It might not work for the tub but you can try. It would keep his toys contained close to him and might keep him seated more easily.

The Bumbo seats can be used in the tub easily. That would be my best suggestion. I used one with Ava. You just can't fill up the water much or the Bumbo seat will start foating. You can get them at Walmart or at Target (or just borrow one from someone who has one they're not using). Good luck!

One thing that I have learned, you got to do what is best for you and your child so take everyone's advice, try it, and do what works best for you. But I would go with the shower or finding the bath chair. He will soon want to swim in the big tub so be prepared. Ginna Bess's first swimming lessons started in the big tub. Let us know what you did. I love hearing trial and error ways of motherhood. That is what makes us all better moms. Listening to others and putting our own personal spin to one's ideas. Hang in there and love you, Jewels!

I had the same problem, Jackson thought the tub was a big pool. I found one of those seats at a consignment sale and it worked well so you may can catch one used somewhere. (and of course disenfect it:-)) I hope things get better.
