3 miles baby!

Ok..I hate to brag, but I'm going to today! My great childhood friend, Cara and I started running together over a month ago. We started running in the evenings but it got so hot we moved to the mornings. She's been driving over to my house at 6:15 and we are running in Forest Hills. We started with a mile and did that for a week or two and we have slowing increased distance. Well, today, we did it! We ran 3 miles..Not 1, not 2, but 3 MILES! I have never run that far and actually it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did get a cramp in my side and that was slowing me down a bit...I am so proud that we have stuck with it. We are going to run a 5K race in July 10th. It's a FRiday night run down at the river bottom. It's a fundraiser for St. Jude. We are excited!!! My goal is to loose this lingering baby weight but so far it hasn't happened. I hope that it will soon!!!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful dads. I consider myself so very blessed to have such a wonderful man to call a husband and father to Parker.

Top 10 Reasons that Chad is a wonderful father:

1. When he plays with Parker, all of his attention is on him. He will lay on the floor and play with toys, tickle him, and just have fun. Parker laughs so hard when he plays with his daddy! Chad is great about staying focused on Parker during playtime!

2. Chad is a hands-on dad. He changes diapers (even the stinky ones!), gives baths, and will change Parker's clothes when needed. Most often I don't even have to ask Chad to do something. He just sees that Parker needs something and he does it. He's wonderful!

3. Chad will gladly get up in the middle of the night to check on Parker if he is crying! WHAT A BLESSING!! Parker rarely wakes up now but if he does, I just nudge Chad and he gets up without a fight!!

4. He loves to feed Parker and he always makes the airplane sound with each bite! Parker loves it!

5. Chad is a great father because he loves me and still treasures our relationship. I am finding that it is hard to find a good balance between being parents and husband and wife. He plans nights out for us to go to dinner, anniversary night in Nashville, etc. What a sweetie!!

6. He loves to play with Parker in the swimming pool. Parker loves to swim and Chad will pull his little float around as long as little man is happy!

7. Chad would rather buy things for Parker than himself.

8. Chad is already thrilled about building Parker a swing set within the next year. Chad has turned the big building on our back lot into a wood working shop and he wants to build the set. I think that it's sweet because it is going to be so much work. I think Parker will appreciate the work one day.

9. Chad is always willing and encourages me to plan time with my girlfriends. I don't ever feel like I have to "ask" to go out with my friends. He knows how important my friends are to me and he is so sweet and understanding when I need some time away.

10. HE LOVES PARKER WITH HIS WHOLE HEART!

We were just talking the other day about what a blessing Parker is to our lives. I am not sure what we did before we were born but there was a huge hole, a void there for sure! The Lord blessed with me with a wonderful man and I am so grateful for him and everything he does for our family!!!

Parker's 6 month checkup

We went today for Parker's six month checkup. Bless his little heart, he was so excited and smiling when we got there. I felt guilty because I knew he had no idea what was coming! :( Dr. Colvard said that everything looks great. I was concerned because Parker still shows no interest in rolling over. Most babies have been rolling over for months now and Parker just lays there...well, he actually just screams because he HATES to be on his stomach. The doctor said that his muscle development was strong and good and his weight is above where it should be so he feels like everything is fine.

He could still heart the heart murmur which means that the hole still has not closed which bothers me a bit. They said that it's not a big deal if it doesn't but I'd rather my child not have a hole in his heart. We go back to the pediatric cardiologist when Parker turns a year old. He said that he really felt like the hole would close by the time he is a year old so I hope that he is right!

He said that Parker needs to start eating baby food three times a day. We had just been doing morning and night. He seems to love all baby food. The only one that he didn't seem to crazy about was green peas...Can't blame him though....they aren't that great! I have given him juice a few times in a sippy cut but he hasn't quite gotten drinking out of a sippy cup under control yet...He tries to pick it up but he just can't quite hold it steady and he gets mad and screams!

We are heading to the beach again on Saturday with Chad's family. It's always a wonderful time and we can't wait!

The Boobie Bungalo

Well, that post title got your attention, didn't it? ha-ha...Well, Chad and I had a WONDERFUL anniversary weekend, although he totally fooled me. Earlier in the week I started bugging him about the plans for the weekend. I love surprises but they also drive me crazy. I can not stand to not know what is going on. I kept guessing where we were going and I guessed Huntsville and to get me off his back he said yes. He said that we were going to Huntsville and staying at the Westin in Bridgestreet. I also guessed that we were going to the Melting Pot so I was just telling everyone that we were going to Huntsville and I was thrilled with the plans. I love Bridgestreet and I have always wanted to eat at the Melting Pot.

We left Saturday morning early because we had to stop by Chad's parents house and set up the pack n play and drop off all of the one million things you have to take for your child. Should one child really require so much stuff to spend the night away for ONE night? :) We did that and then drove to Elkmont for the 3rd annual blood drive that is done in memory of Chad's pawpaw...We visited with family and spent around 2 hours there. Chad donated..I was a big baby and didn't want to... We left Parker there with Chad's parents because he was going to spend the night with them while we were gone for the night.

Chad and I headed off to around 1:00 to Huntsville or so I thought. We were driving and Chad kept asking me about the people there at the blood drive and what they were saying. He was donating blood forever and didn't really get to spend much time with them. I now know he was just trying to distract me so I wouldn't realize where we were going. Now, lots of you know that when I get in the car and I am not driving, I am asleep. After about 15 minutes of driving I started to get sleepy but I kept noticing signs for things in TN. I thought that was strange but I didn't think much of it. A few minutes later I see a billboard for the Boobie Bungalo. Well, for one that name is just ridiculous and it makes me laugh and I just couldn't understand why Alabama would have signs for the Boobie Bungalo in TN. I told Chad that I thought that was weird and he just started laughing. He said," You big dork, have  you not noticed that we are driving NORTH?" I just start laughing at myself because I realized how dumb I was!

We were heading to Nashville. Chad and tricked me!! He said that he was hoping that I would fall asleep before I noticed and I would wake up in Nashville. We stayed at a cool hotel in Cool Springs called ALoft. Really neat, by the way. First, we went shopping at OpreyMills! That place is my heaven! Of course shopping involved buying this for Parker! Not us, of course! :) We went to eat dinner at a place called Georgetown Cafe. Chad had made us reservations and I have to say it was the best meal I have had in a LONG time. Since I love FOOD so much, this made me very happy. The diet was OUT THE WINDOW! We had crab cakes for an appetizer. The entrees came with either soup or salad so I opted for the ceasar salad and Chad went for the French Onion soup. HOLY COW! It was the best soup ever! It was bubbling over with cheese. We basically licked the bowl! He had some kind of pork as his meal and I had some lemon basil chicken and it was wonderful. The bread was amazing too! Lord knows I love some bread! They were these little balls of bread and they were heavenly! SOOOO Good!!

We left dinner full and happy and went to the movies to see The Hangover! It is soo funny! It does have some bad language and a little nudity but it was a great laugh. I really wanted a big tub of buttery popcorn but I was still so full from dinner! We went back to the hotel and crashed. I was exhausted because I had gotten up early that morning and run two miles! (yea, I am patting myself on the back, I know!) I now need to run about 10 miles to burn off everything I ate! We got up this morning and ate breakfast at a place called J. Christopher's. It was a breakfast, brunch, and lunch place. I had a huge waffle with strawberries! So Yummy!

Chad did great this weekend planning our little getaway. We loved getting to spend time together but we were so ready to see our little man. It's amazing how you enjoy time away but you sure do miss your baby!

Thanks Chad for a wonderful surprise weekend!!!

Happy Anniversary!!

On June 5, 2004, I married my sweet husband, Chad. Tomorrow will be our five year anniversary. He is so sweet and has planned an afternoon and night in Huntsville for us to celebrate. I love surprises but it drives me crazy to not know what's going on. He won't tell me  what we are doing or where we are staying! I am so excited to get away for a night.

Our wedding day was beautiful. All of our dear friends were in the wedding and that made it even more special. My matron of honor was Raycheal and my bridesmaids were Katy, Sara, Emily, Melissa, Cara, Laura, and Elizabeth. A wonderful mix of friends that I have made throughout my life. Each one is so special. Our ceremony was held at Woodmont at 2:00 in the afternoon. The weather was warm and beautiful. The reception was held at Florence Country Club. It was a nice reception with great food. Chad and I left and headed to Birmingham for the "Big Night!" The next morning we drove to Hilton Head, South Caroline for a few days. Although the wedding was perfect, we all felt the dark cloud hanging overhead. In April, about six weeks before the wedding, my dad was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. The doctors were worried because it was a pretty strong cancer and my dad was so young. The wedding was Saturday and he had his surgery in Birmingham on Monday to remove it. It was very invasive and he was in LOTS of pain for weeks. My dad insisted that we continue our honeymoon plans but I must admit, the honeymoon was nice, but I just worried about my dad the whole time! I just wanted to be with my family.

At the time of the wedding, I was living in Atlanta and Chad had just been offered a job in Panama City Beach. When we found out we were moving to Florida, we got in the car and headed down to find a place to live. We literally just drove around trying to find an affordable apartment complex, which is hard by the way. We finally settled on Harbour Green in PCB. I noticed a school next door so I emailed my resume to the principal not really expecting to hear anything. She noticed my resume because her sons had gone to UNA too! Wow! What perfect planning on God's part! I interviewed over the phone the day before the wedding and I was offered the job! It was such a blessing and a relief to know that I would be able to teach when we moved.

After the honeymoon, we spent one week in my apartment in ATL and then Chad had to leave for two weeks to train with Lilly so I moved back in my parents to help out and keep my dad company. Nothing like getting married and then moving back in with the folks. Chad came home for two weeks and we stayed with our parents, (just what newlyweds want to do!) and then he had to leave again for another two weeks! :( bummer! While he was gone that time, it was time to move to PCB! Lilly sent movers to move our stuff but my mom and dad, who was starting to move around by that point, came down to Florida to help out!

Our first summer as a married couple was crazy and we were all over the place. We sure did alot right off the bat. Got married, moved to a new state, and  both got new jobs!!

Chad is such a wonderful husband and friend. Every day he makes me laugh. People always think Chad is older because he so "so mature" but truth of the matter is, he's just a big kid and I love it!! He is always considerate of my feelings and needs and I feel that I hit the "husband jackpot!" What a blessing to have a great marriage! I love him even more now that we have Parker. I love watching his eyes light up when he gets home from work and sees Parker for the first time. They just stare and smile at each other with such love in their eyes. I will never tire of seeing that. I just feel that I should drop to my knees each day with a prayer of Thanksgiving for the Lord blessing me with such a wonderful man.

Happy Anniversary, Chad!! It's been a wonderful five years and I look forward to so many more!!

Parker is 6 months old!

Parker will be six months old on Wednesday. We are scheduled for  his six months pictures tomorrow and I am already nervous because you never know how they will turn out! I hope that Parker is happy and smiles as much as he did for his three month pictures.

We have been busy lately but I am so glad to slow down life now that it is summer time! Today has been wonderful since I didn't have to get up and go to work! Parker and I played this morning and then we went to the pool for almost three hours! He just LOVES the pool. He played in the water, he took a nap, drank a bottle and then another dip in the pool. He will just smile, laugh, and splash the water around! I'll post some pictures soon!

Parker is doing so many things now! He is sitting up by himself. He will loose his balance some but for the most part he can sit on the floor and play with his toys! It is so cute and he loves to just sit and watch what everyone is doing. He is really talking now too. He will sometimes say "da da da da" after being prompted...No mama yet, of course! He goes to sleep between 7-8, just depends on what we have going on and he usually wakes up between 6-7. He eats his cereal mixed with either applesauce or bananas and takes a 6 oz. bottle first thing in the morning. He takes another bottle at 10, 1, and 4. He eats his baby food at 6 and then another bottle before bed...

We are having so much fun with him! I just can't believe that it's already been 6 months!
